At The Montecito Health Coach, our mission is to empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being through personalized health coaching and guidance.
A whole person-centered approach to wellness coaching with mindfulness at the core.
I believe in health coaching clients, not problems.
Without judgement, together we forge a partnership to help you formulate and actualize your health and wellness vision.
When we set goals that are unrealistic, we can often consider the whole process a failure if we don't immediately succeed 100%.
Coaching helps us take the process one attainable step at a time, celebrating victories along the way, and learning from perceived "failures" as we often gain as much or more from what we don't do, as from what we do.
Working through Zoom, I offer private one on one sessions and groups for up to 10 people, who may be working on a common theme or goal.
Through mindfulness, you can find your ultimate "whys" and the
"hows" will soon follow. Utilizing a neuroscience-based process developed by Duke Integrative Medicine, we work together to help you overcome any obstacles that are standing between you and your optimal self.
Regardless of where you are in your health journey, we are here to help.
My name is Deann Zampelli and I am a Duke-certified Health and Well-Being Coach in Montecito, California. I received my Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2016, but felt that in order to support my clients in the way that I wanted to, there was a piece of my education missing. The program at Duke Integrative Medicine was that piece.
While I am open to helping anyone, my focus is on healthy aging and the challenges that the second half of life can often bring. Though longevity is one of my areas of study, I am not just interested in supporting you to live longer, but to live healthier.
Health Coaching can also often be valuable during life's transitions. Menopause, divorce, bereavement, Empty Nest Syndrome, and retirement are just some of the phases of our lives that might require additional support.
My combined education and life experience make me uniquely qualified as a Health Coach specializing in Healthy Aging. I also have a column in The Montecito Journal, called The Montecito Health Coach.

The Montecito Health Coach is a health coaching service that offers personalized guidance and support to individuals looking to improve their health and well-being. I work with clients to create customized plans that fit their unique needs and goals.
At TMHC, we work with the whole person. Many different aspects of our life affect our health; Physical Environment, Nutrition and Lifestyle, Emotional and Mental Well-being, Physical Fitness and Activity, Sleep and Rest, Work-Life Balance and more. Some examples include; Improving Nutrition, Increasing Exercise, Improving Sleep Habits, Drawing Boundaries at Work and Weight Loss.
Despite our advances in technology, numerous chronic diseases are increasing at an alarming rate. Many premature deaths can be prevented through lifestyle changes alone but not everyone is able to either implement or sustain the necessary steps to make this happen. Our western healthcare system isn't designed to support patients through this process. Fortunately, many physicians are now including health coaches in their practices as they have seen the significant advantages of having someone act as a bridge between the advice given by the practitioner and the patient. Health coaches can help you make lasting behavior changes through the discovery of your lifelong health vision and the manageable steps along the way.
Some companies offer health coaching as part of their health plans so be sure to find out if yours does. Studies have found that lasting change really takes 3-6 months so I ask my clients for a minimum 3 month commitment, however, with that said, everyone is different as so I offer a bit of flexibility on a case by case basis. 25 Minute Micro-Session (for a maintenance tune-up/check-in or to get a feel for coaching) $100
45 Minute Tune-Up (for existing clients who have already completed at least one 12-week course) $100
6 Session Mini Package $725

At TMHC, we start with a free 10-15-minute phone consultation to assess your needs and goals. From there, we work with you to create a personalized plan that includes coaching sessions, resources as needed, and support. We also offer ongoing check-ins to help you stay on track and achieve your goals.
While there are many differences between therapy and coaching, one of the most significant ones is that in coaching, the client is the expert. You know more about you than anyone else does. Also, in coaching, it isn't important how you got here, we are just glad that you did. Coaching focuses on the present and the future. Also, as coaches we do not prescribe or offer advice. You, as the client, hold all of the answers, we just help you tap into them to harness this inherent knowledge and power to help you get where you want to be.
Health & Well-Being Coaching focuses on health-related issues whereas executive coaching focuses on enhancing management and leadership skills in a business setting.
Mindfulness not only helps the coach to stay fully present for the client, but it has numerous benefits for the client as well. Studies have shown that mindfulness can lower stress, improve sleep, increase memory, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, help with anxiety and depression, improve test performance, reduce inflammation and so much more. And during our sessions, your mindfulness can help you really tune into your own thoughts, desires, barriers and goals. Health Coaching can be beneficial to anyone who would like to improve an aspect of their wellness. Some of the areas that Health Coaching can help you focus on are; Exercise, Nutrition, Spirituality, Work-Life Balance, Sleep Hygiene, Mindfulness, Improving your Home Environment, Creating Boundaries, and much more.
While everyone is different, Duke Integrative Medicine suggests that most lasting change takes between 3-6 months. However, using small, attainable steps it is possible to feel change right away. For example, if you are more sedentary than you would like, even taking breaks from your desk every hour to do some stretching will have an immediate effect. Tending to your health and well-being needs is already the first step toward change so give yourself a bit pat on the back just for being here. And, of course, the length of time needed will also depend on what your goals are.
